Murphy was drafted with the number 1 selection at the 2005 NAB National Draft, going on to make his AFL debut in Round 1 2006 being rewarded with a Round 1 Rising star nomination and winning Carlton’s best first year player. Murphy has since gone on to play in Carlton’s pre season premiership and come second in the club best & fairest award to Chris Judd in 2008. Bryce Gibbs was selected as Carlton’s number 1 pick at the 2006 NAB National Draft, Gibbs after being apart of the pre season premiership in his first pre season of senior football went on to be rewarded with a rising star nomination in 07 and improved again in 2008 moving into Carlton’s midfield and finishing fifth in the clubs Best & Fairest. Matthew Kreuzer became Carlton’s third number 1 draft pick in a row when he was taken with Carlton’s priority selection at the 2007 NAB AFL Draft, in his first year Kreuzer missed the first two rounds through injury making his debut in Round 3 going on to win a rising star nomination and having a great impact in the ruck and up forward. |
