As captain, Steve Waugh provided direction and as a batsman he provided the middle-order firepower. The Australian team firstly matches the West Indies all time record of 12 consecutive victories and then they motored past - finally finishing with 16 – achieved against 6 different nations in 3 vastly differing continents.

Steve Australia 40^th test captain was man of the match in three of these games and was crowned Garfield Sobers Award for Outstanding Batsman of the series, where the side routed the West Indies 5-0 in Australia. An impressive contribution.
