This beautiful print titled the “Greatest Race Never Run” was created by artist Brian Clinton under commission to celebrate the running of the 150th Melbourne Cup and features the greatest ever 24 winners of the Melbourne Cup. The scene is set on Flemington’s famous home straight and features each of the runners in the finishing order as determined by the expert panel. Racing Victoria Limited’s chief handicapper Greg Carpenter completed the most challenging task of weighting the 143 individual winners of the Melbourne Cup in its 149 year history to come up with the field. The picture shows PharLap crossing the line ahead of Carbine (2nd) and Makybe Diva (3rd). This “Greatest Race Never Run” will hold pride of place on any horse racing fan’s wall. This print is limited to an edition of 1500 and is officially licensed by the Victoria Racing Club (VRC).
